How do I ask good questions to uncover blind spots?

1 min readMay 22, 2025

The right question lingers. It pokes. It stirs things up.

But questions like…

- What is the impact?
- What are the pain points?
- What are the risks?

Are obvious and intuitive to ask, they won’t tell you much.

To ask sharp questions, make sense of what’s unclear, and shape the direction of the project, use this technique that I create and apply in all of my projects.

I visualize business challenge to ask good questions:

1. Draw the main problem in the center.
2. Visually lay out each step in the process.
3. For each step, list who is involved or impacted.
4. Pause to observe and look at the diagram holistically.

This helps you reflect and ask questions you wouldn’t consider.

I can’t stress the importance of visualization enough in everything you do.

You will solve the real problem, not just treat the symptoms.

And you ’ll be known as the one who always gets to the heart of things.

Your questions shape your outcomes.

P.S. Do you have a method for coming up with questions? they say there is no wrong questions but how to ask ones that lead to “aha moments”
